Turn every valuable conversation into a full episode, useful clips, stronger relationships, and a reason for your community to come back.
Trevor's rule: serve one person, create one valuable conversation, give one clear next step, and publish it.
Make this decision first
Buzzsprout or Spotify for Creators?
YouTube is the primary home for the full video. The audio host creates the RSS feed that sends the audio version to podcast apps.
Best default for a business or client show
Choose Buzzsprout
Use case: You want the easiest guided path, dependable support, useful podcast tools, and a professional workflow your team can repeat.
Why choose it:
Clear setup and directory-submission guidance
Podcast website, statistics, transcripts, embed players, and team access on current paid plans
A cleaner handoff when a client or team member helps publish
Tradeoffs: It has a monthly cost, plans include upload allowances, and some tools are paid add-ons. The free plan is a trial path, not a permanent archive.
Use case: You are testing the idea, publishing the show yourself, and want unlimited audio hosting without adding a monthly bill.
Why choose it:
Free, unlimited podcast hosting
Automatic availability on Spotify
RSS feed, analytics, video on Spotify, and monetization options in eligible markets
Tradeoffs: You must submit the RSS feed to Apple Podcasts, Amazon Music, and other apps yourself. Spotify video stays on Spotify, and it does not replace YouTube as the main video channel.
Trevor's recommendation: Choose Buzzsprout when ease, support, and repeatability matter more than saving the monthly fee. Choose Spotify for Creators when zero cost is the deciding factor. Do not use both as hosts. Pick one RSS home.

Closing “What is one step someone can take today, and where can people learn more about you?”
Trevor Crane's special sauce
Use the podcast to build community
The episode is not the finish line. It is the beginning of a relationship with the guest and the people who need the conversation.
ConnectLead with the problem your guest and listener care about.
CareMake the guest look great and give the listener something useful.
ClarityBuild every episode around one promise and one memorable lesson.
Call to actionInvite one next step: comment, subscribe, share, join, or buy.
The community flywheel: Invite a great person. Create a valuable conversation. Publish the full episode. Share useful moments. Celebrate the guest. Ask the audience a real question. Invite the best responses into the next conversation.
Do not wait for these
Launch before it feels perfect
Fancy intro music
A studio
Perfect editing
A dedicated website
Sponsors
A daily schedule
Better plan: Record three conversations, publish the best one, and use what you learn to improve the next episode.
Trevor's launch advice
Keep it simple
Choose one listener, one repeatable format, and one publishing day. Batch conversations when you can. Ask questions people will not hear everywhere else. Publish full episodes on YouTube, send the audio through one RSS host, and use clips to start conversations with the community.
On YouTube, the podcast itself is a playlist of full-length video episodes. Keep Shorts and promotional clips outside that podcast playlist. Order an episodic show newest first and a serial show oldest first.
